Columbus Artist Guild 2025 Exhibition Awards

I joined the Columbus Artist Guild for the 2025 year so i could meet fellow artist and be able to exhibit my work. As a photographer i was probably in the minority. Most of the members are either painters, sculptures, or some other type of mixed media artist. There were maybe 5 or 6 photographers in the group but i never had the cance to formally meet them. I always have thought communities need more groups concentrating on local artist no matter where you live. There is something hopeful knowing you don’t have to compete with the world. Your simply sharing your art with the people immediately around you and that helps you build personal relationships with other artist a lot more easily and quickly. Even though we live in this connected internet world. Nothing online can ever compare with getting together with other like minded individuals around you and interacting in a meaningful way. That’s why the online world will always be a compromise at connecting with people for me personally. We were ment to be in the immediate proximity of each other as social creatures. Physical proximity will always trump the online world for me.

One of the other enjoyable parts of joining the artist guild is that they have contest for members where you can also sell your work. I think it allows new artist to get their feet wet at exhibition and in person sales with physical work without the pressure of having a event being centered on you alone. There are some amazing life long artist that i never even knew about who are exceptional at what they do. All though i did not receive an award at the the exhibit i had a really great time seeing others work. I got to meet people, and celebrate local artist who dont always get to be recognised for their talents and i think that’s a great thing for any local community to have.
